Family Dinner I had read several reviews since the restaurant was renovated and reopened. Some good, some bad.
We booked a meal for 4 for 7 pm. Initial meet was good and we were shown to our table swiftly. Screens separating tables and you would not have noticed that they were not part of the decor. The place is spacious and beautifully decorated. No expense spared.
We ordered our food and the manager was quite helpful with recommendations. We ordered a large portion of chicken wings and dough balls to start. My son had dough balls also. Plenty for three of us and very nice. No rush to clear our table and just asked in passing's was all good. I was happy with this, and no one cleared the table until we were all finished.
For mains I had pork belly, my wife steak and daughter pasta. My pork belly arrived and three nicely sized pieces. Some mixed veg with a sauce(small in portion) and I ordered chips as I had heard the portions were small. I would not say very small however would agree you would need a side, say chips or veg. My food was lovely and filling. Very tasty, presented perfectly. The plates have rims on the edge which I thought was a nice touch, not losing food to the table. My wife's steak was cooked as requested and she said it was lovely. Daughters pasta with steak was nice.(steak beautiful, pasta sauce a bit bland) My son had a pizza, which he rated 8/10 and he is very honest at 9 years old and would tell you if he didn't like it.
Deserts were nice Brownie, Eclair and kids brownie. All good.
Overall- My service was good. No one rushed us or cleared the table partially before we were finished. Asked a few times if everything tasted good or if we needed anything, so plenty attentive.
Surroundings were lovely.
Food- very good, substantial but not rolling home as overly full. I had plenty and not hungry as some people had previously said. Also all our food was hot and in no way cold.
Our total for 3 adults one child was 129 euro. Kids meal was excellent value at 9.50 (starter, main and dessert. We had 5 cokes too.
Id certainly return, food was great. More Expensive than other places, yes, but not somewhere I would be eating twice a week so nice for an occasion and value for what we ate.
The bill had a service charge which I did not know until we were paying and had already tipped. (Im not sure if it states this on the menu, it should if it doesn't as I was paying the bill on the way out) I didn't like this but have checked and it goes to the staff so Im over it. I would take it into account next time when tipping.
Wow! Great food in a stunning venue by the sea! Myself and some friends dined in the Clermont Bistro last Saturday. We travelled one hour to visit this new place. I have to say we were blown away by the decor, the food and the friendly team. We reserved our table online which was pretty simple. On arrival we had some pre-drinks in the cool bar and then we went to our table. I had the Braised Bellingham Angus Pappardelle Pasta which was amazing. My friends had the 12hr Braised Short Rib and a Pizza. All of the food was really tasty and we had great fun with the friendly staff.
The Chairman's Room - Wow! Probably the best Steak in Ireland! A group of us decided to try the Chairman's room at the Clermont in Blackrock. All i can say is wow!. I've honestly never had beef like it. We had the 7 course tasting menu which was fun (if a bit too much!) and the host helped us pick an amazing wine. We had the Fillet's and the Mowhawk's. Amazed to see something like this outside Dublin or Belfast the decor is 5 star. Well done Clermont.
